Surgical tear trough reconstruction

◯ Create grooves for the tear troughs

A small incision is made in the conjunctiva behind the eyelid, and thread is placed to create a groove in the same way as with the buried suture method.

By creating grooves, hyaluronic acid is less likely to flow downwards when injected into the tear troughs, allowing for the formation of plump tear troughs.

Personally, I recommend combining this procedure with hyaluronic acid when performing surgical tear trough formation.

It gives the most natural finish.

Since no incisions are made in the skin, there are no scars and no stitches need to be removed.

The downtime is about the same as for double eyelid surgery, with swelling and internal bleeding lasting about a week. After a month, the swelling will completely subside and you will feel refreshed.

◯ Create fuller tear troughs

The true nature of tear troughs is that the orbicularis oculi muscle thickens near the eyelashes.

An incision is made near the eyelashes, the orbicularis oculi muscle is incised below, and the orbicularis oculi muscle is sutured so that it overlaps.

This creates thickness and forms tear troughs.

If the volume is still insufficient, fat can be transplanted from other areas, but this is not recommended as it may result in a difference between the left and right sides.

The skin is incised and the stitches need to be removed after one week.

There will be almost no scarring under the eyelashes, but it will take about 1-3 months for the color to settle.

Swelling and internal bleeding will occur for approximately 1-10 weeks.
