Are you having trouble with eyelid tape? Why not solve it with double eyelid surgery?
A dual-specialty doctor with a background in plastic surgery, bridging cosmetic surgery and ophthalmology. At the university hospital, he performed numerous high-difficulty cases, primarily focusing on eye and facial bone surgeries, cultivating precise techniques grounded in anatomy. He prioritizes achieving both aesthetic beauty and functional safety, offering customized treatments around the eyes that incorporate ophthalmological expertise. He actively utilizes not only incisional surgery but also non-invasive procedures like hyaluronic acid injections. By carefully assessing each individual's condition and unique appeal, he provides bespoke treatments that guide patients toward naturally harmonious, well-defined eyes.
Hello,Plastic Surgeon Shaping Impressions: Ryutaro Natsumeis

About 70% of Japanese people are naturally monolidded... Wouldn't most people first try creating double eyelids with eyelid tape?
We often receive inquiries about eyelid tape issues such as skin irritation, tape coming off due to sweat, and difficulty achieving double eyelids.
Even eyelids stretched out by eyelid tape like this can be beautifully reshaped into double eyelids with double-stitch surgery.
Today's the day we introduce it!

⸻
Explanation of Single-Layer and Double-Layer Structures

To form double eyelids, a structural connection between the skin and the deeper layers of the eyelid is necessary.
Double eyelid surgery is a procedure that recreates this structural connection using sutures.
⸻
Structure of Eye Putty Explained

I-Puti creates double eyelids by forming creases in the skin without building structure, so it tends to have less pronounced creasing.
Those with thin eyelids may achieve a clean look when first using it, but those with particularly thick eyelids will end up with a droopy, ham-like appearance.

Even if you're feeling unwell and your eyelids are swollen, you won't be able to create a nice double eyelid.
The friction between the eyelid tape and the skin fold itself, or sweat buildup, can cause eyelid tape irritation.
Redness may improve when you stop using it, but if it recurs chronically, the skin can stretch and become hardened.
As that happens, it becomes harder to recreate the double eyelids you originally had.
Morning makeup takes too long, and constantly worrying about how heavy it feels is exhausting.
It's exhausting to worry every time whether my double eyelids will hold before important events.

Solutions for Eyelid Tape Problems
That said, if you're reading this and hesitating about getting buried eyelids done, I imagine you're interested but holding back because you're afraid of surgery or can't take the downtime.
The buried method is recommended! But that sounds too formal, so here's a workaround.
Eye puffiness: Reducing salt intake, limiting alcohol consumption, and using a hot eye mask before bed or upon waking are effective.
Eye irritation, redness: Temporarily discontinue use of eyelid tape; apply Neomedrol ointment.
Neomedrol ointment is safe if it gets in your eyes, so you can apply it right along the lash line! It's also available over the counter, so please try it if you absolutely need to.
However, since it contains steroids, the steroids themselves can damage the skin. We do not recommend long-term use.
⸻
Did you get double eyelids with eyelid tape?
I get asked this a lot. While creases may form on the skin, they aren't structural, so they'll fade after a while.
While it may be extremely rare for someone to develop double eyelids, please consider this a special case where conditions align, such as having naturally thin eyelids or a naturally thin connective tissue structure.
So even if you repeatedly use eyelid tape thinking it will create double eyelids, the skin gradually stretches and hardens, ultimately preventing the formation of a permanent double eyelid crease.
