Sunken eyes that make you look older

I will explain the cause.

 

・When the eyebrows rise:

As shown in this diagram, this occurs when the upper eyelid skin becomes lax or when ptosis makes it difficult to open the eyelids, and the person compensates by raising their forehead to see more clearly.

The eyelid is thicker on the brow side and thinner on the lash side (check out my previous blog post!).

So when the eyebrow lifts, the thicker part of the eyelid rises, and the thinner part moves upward toward the eyebrow.

This makes the eyelids appear sunken.

Treatment Methods: Double Eyelid Suture Technique, Ptosis Surgery, Brow Lift Surgery (when necessary)

 

・When fat is drawn in

 

When orbital fat is pulled back into the eye socket, the eyelid becomes sunken.

The cause is ptosis.occurs.

The levator aponeurosis, the tendon that opens the eyelid, primarily loses its ability to transmit force with age. In some cases, it detaches from the eyelid and shifts deeper within the eyelid.

The orbital fat exists attached to the levator aponeurosis, so it is simultaneously drawn deep into the eyelid.

Treatment: Ptosis Surgery

Improvement is achieved by moving trapped fat as if pulling it out, and in some cases, fixing and repositioning it.

 

・Fat atrophy or reduced by surgery

Aging or after fat removal surgery for dark circlesoccurs.

Treatment: Hyaluronic acid/fat injection

People who are naturally thin with slightly sunken upper eyelids and dark circles under their eyes tend to have fat from the upper eyelids being pushed down onto the lower eyelids. Removing this fat will cause the lower eyelids to appear hollow.

In such cases, the Hamra method—which shifts fat rather than removing it—is effective.

Treatment Details: Hyaluronic Acid for Sunken Eyes, Under-Eye Baby Collagen

This is a classic example of how incorrect treatment leads to failure. For this patient, removing fat would cause both the under-eye and upper-eye areas to become sunken.

Slim build, slightly sunken upper eyelids, with ligament-related hollows being the main feature under the eyes.

If you wish to undergo surgery, it would be the Hamra procedure on the back of the nose plus hyaluronic acid or fat injection for the right eye hollow.

Procedure: Ptosis Surgery

You can see that the hollow appearance of the upper eyelid has improved along with the enhanced eye opening.
