This time, we'll explain which individuals are more prone to having their buried sutures come loose and introduce ways to prevent this.

The principle of buried double eyelids is to create the fold of the double eyelid line using a thread knot.

The more you blink, the easier it becomes for the thread ball to come loose.

 

① The skin on the eyelids is thick.

The skin of the eyelid is thinner on the side of the eyelashes and thicker on the side of the eyebrows.

Double eyelids that fold inward and thick eyelid skin are more prone to slipping.

Not only is the skin naturally thick, but if you desire wide double eyelids and opt for buried sutures on the thicker brow side, they are more likely to come undone.

 

② High in fat

When creating a fold, fat tissue can become entangled, creating resistance that makes it difficult to open the eyelid and increasing the likelihood of the fold detaching.

 

③ Poor eye opening

If your eyelids naturally open poorly, the strength to create double eyelids is also weak, and even with buried suture surgery, you may not achieve a beautiful double eyelid.

In that case, the double eyelids tend to disappear quickly.

In this case, it is necessary to add a procedure to improve the opening of the eyes in order to create double eyelids.

For mild cases, we recommend the MT method, a non-surgical procedure. For moderate to severe cases, we recommend surgical intervention involving an incision.

 

④ Rubbing your eyes frequently

If you have a habit of rubbing your eyes due to conditions like hay fever or atopic dermatitis, they are more likely to come off.

Since I believe I have a type prone to eyelid inflammation, when hard tissue called granulation forms around the thread knot due to inflammation, it can cause the lumpy thread knot to become palpable on the surface.

Therefore, when itching occurs, applying anti-itch eye drops or moisturizing if dryness is the cause is important for managing the itch.

Countermeasures for cases where the implant is prone to dislodgement

In cases ①, ②, and ④, since the thread balls tend to come loose easily, it's important to prepare multiple thread balls so that even if one comes loose, you still have others to hold onto.

The popular natural adhesion method uses a single thread, so if it breaks, the wound will completely revert to its original state.

Therefore, I personally believe it is not well-suited for such cases.

When creating double eyelids, opt for a buried suture technique that incorporates multiple anchor points and crisscrossing stitches. This ensures that even if one suture point comes loose, the remaining threads will maintain the double eyelid line.
