PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, referring to the plasma fraction rich in platelets extracted from one's own blood.
Platelets primarily function to stop bleeding when blood vessels are damaged, but in doing so, they release large amounts of growth factors that support tissue repair and regeneration. Utilizing this mechanism, injecting PRP into areas of concern is expected to enhance the body's own tissue repair capabilities.
PRP has garnered attention across various fields. In orthopedics, it is used for sports injuries and osteoarthritis of the knee, while in ophthalmology, it is employed for dry eye treatment.
In the field of aesthetic medicine, growth factors released within the skin activate fibroblasts, thereby promoting the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen.
It is used for treating wrinkles, sagging skin, acne scars, enlarged pores, dark circles under the eyes, hollows around the eyes and eyelids, and nasolabial folds.
