The Importance of Social Media in Aesthetic Medicine

Social media has become indispensable for marketing and branding in aesthetic medicine. Beyond simply sharing patient case photos, it is an essential tool for enhancing a clinic's brand equity.

However, the number of cosmetic clinics continues to increase year after year, already creating oversupply in urban centers, and marketing via social media has reached saturation. This time, we will provide feedback on the importance of social media and introduce effective ways to utilize it.

Nasal Tip Augmentation Using Teostrut—Achieve a Perky, High Nose Tip

In Asians with low nasal tips, we believe septal extension is more suitable than columellar strut for achieving tip projection. Conventional septal extension techniques have issues such as tip rigidity and insufficient cartilage for grafting. Teostrut, proposed by Teoman Dogan, requires less septal cartilage and facilitates tip mobility, making it our preferred method in recent years. Teostrut is fixed with a single graft centered on the anterior septal angle. It is thinner than grafts used in conventional septal extension techniques, allowing septal extension using only septal cartilage even in Asians with smaller cartilage. Teostrut serves as a suture support for the dome of the Lower Lateral Cartilage (LLC), eliminating the need for fixation to the medial crus of the LLC, thus preserving good tip mobility. Teostrut was originally designed for Caucasians who prefer caudal rotation of the nasal tip, but

By carefully positioning the strut fixation and combining it with swinging door septoplasty, it is possible to advance the tip while rotating it, provided the nose is not extremely short. Asian cartilage is considered relatively weak.

However, during LLC dissection, releasing ligament tension and correcting cartilage curvature with techniques like cephalic trim allows applying tension to the LC via suture technique. This maintains projection against stress from the skin envelope, enabling a sufficiently pointed and elevated nasal tip. Except for extreme short noses or revision cases where the nasal septal cartilage has already been utilized, we prioritize using Teostrut for tip plasty as the first choice.
