ZeoSkin Health Therapeutic: Changes in Skin Texture
As an Assistant Professor, Associate Ward Director, and Chief of Dermatopathology at the university hospital dermatology department, I deepened my expertise through academic presentations and paper publications both domestically and internationally. I have handled a wide range of treatments, from birthmark therapy in children to adult pigmentation concerns, utilizing various lasers and injection therapies, while also contributing to community healthcare. Through encountering numerous cases, I strongly felt the potential and necessity of aesthetic medicine, resolving to pursue further expertise. Building upon my solid dermatological knowledge and meticulous diagnostic skills, I value treatments that gently support each individual's skin while bringing out its inherent beauty.
ZO Skin Health is a medical cosmetics brand that I believe many of you are familiar with.
When it comes to retinol... another medical cosmetic that comes to mind is the Environ series, developed by a doctor in equatorial South Africa to prevent skin cancer. It's all about retinol.Effective against photoagingI understand perfectly well.
ZeoSkin Health is a series developed with the conviction that it fundamentally improves skin through an aggressive approach—one Dr. Zein Obagi describes not as "cosmetics" but as "treatment."
Today, we're talking about ZeoSkin Health.Therapeutic ProgramI would like to provide information about.

I am Dr. Aya Hayama, a board-certified dermatologist.
Dr. Obagi's Core Philosophy: Not "Curing Skin," but "Creating/Maintaining Healthy Skin"
1. It's not about treating symptoms.Aiming for fundamental improvement of the skin
While conventional skincare temporarily covers “symptoms” like wrinkles, acne, and uneven skin tone, Dr. ObagiRestoring skin health and maintaining it is the true goal.I believe that.
2. Viewing skin as a “living organ”
Rather than treating skin as merely an “appearance,” understand it as an “organ requiring treatment,”Functional recovery at the cellular levelWe are taking an approach that encourages [X].
3. InstructionandEmphasizing the involvement of the Mon family
Dr. Obagi emphasizes that it is crucial for both patients and physicians to possess “skin expertise.” He states that educating patients fosters realistic goal setting and commitment to treatment.
4. A Systematic Program Starting with Getting Skin Ready (GSR)
ZO Skin Health employs a systematic three-step approach: first, "Getting Skin Ready® (GSR®)" to prepare the skin; next, "Correct" and "Prevent"; and finally, "Protect."
5. Science-backed formulations and technological expertise
Using a formulation that skillfully combines high-concentration retinol, AHAs and BHAs (glycolic acid and salicylic acid), peptides, antioxidants, and other ingredients,Skin's regenerative powerscientifically elicitIt is designed.
6. Integration of Prevention, Repair, and Maintenance
ZO Skin Health is built on a comprehensive skincare approach that goes beyond mere treatment, covering the entire process of "damage prevention → fundamental recovery → long-term maintenance."

What is a Therapeutic Program?
The Therapeutic Program is particularly within ZeoSkin HealthTherapeutic SkincareThis is an intensive care program positioned as a specialized treatment program.
I believe it has the power to improve all concerns: dark spots, dullness, melasma, acne and acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, and loss of firmness.
Key features include the use of tretinoin (vitamin A), now in a microemulsion formulation of 1.3% high-concentration retinol (Complex A+), combined with hydroquinone (Miramin, Miramix). This intensive regimen over approximately 3 to 6 months targets significant skin quality improvement. Due to associated downtime such as peeling and redness, a physician's diagnosis and prescription are mandatory. (Not available over the counter.)
⭐Basic Usage of Therapeutic Products
The following are examples of representative therapeutic programs (including some prescription medications):
| Step | Items Used | Content |
|---|---|---|
| ① morning and evening | Hydrating Cleanser | Gently cleanses the skin |
| ② Morning and evening | Balance Toner or Clear Fine Serum | Balance pH levels |
| ③ Morning | Miramin (4% Hydroquinone) | Inhibits melanin production |
| ④ Night |
MiraMix + Tretinoin (prescription medication) Or Complex A+ |
Promotes skin turnover |
| ⑤ Morning | Sunscreen (BS Sunscreen, etc.) | UV protection is essential! |
※Follow your doctor's instructions regarding the concentration and amount of tretinoin to use.
⭐ Therapeutic Progress and Skin Changes
| period | Skin condition | Comments |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1–2 | Redness and peeling begin | The toughest time. Make sure to moisturize & protect against UV rays. |
| Weeks 3–6 | Skin peeling persists / Skin is sensitive | It's hard to apply makeup, but the effects are still developing. |
| 2 to 3 months | Experience visible changes in skin clarity and pore appearance | Some people find their skin adjusts and settles down. |
| Months 4–6 | Bright and smooth skin | Continuous use will lead to lasting improvements in skin texture. |
Program Stage
-
ReactionsWeek 1–6. This is a period of significant skin stress, characterized by redness, peeling, dryness, and itching.
-
Durability Period (Comfort)Around weeks 7 to 12. The skin barrier begins to recover, and positive changes such as firmness and radiance start to appear.
-
Completion Phase (Healthy Skin/Improvement Phase)Final 12 to 24 weeks. Skin tone evens out, and improvements in dark spots, pores, and dullness become more noticeable.
Post-therapeutic transition and maintenance phase
・Transition Period (Tapering)Gradually reduce the frequency of Miramin Tretinoin or Complex A+ use. Even when reduced to twice weekly, continue daily topical application without skipping days. Subsequently, transition to another high-concentration vitamin A product (Skin Bright Serum) applied approximately twice weekly. This adjustment period lasts about 1.5 to 2 months.
・Maintenance phaseThe stage of discontinuing Miramin and tretinoin and maintaining the skin with gentler retinol and vitamin C products.
The above treatment provides significant improvement, but the biggest issue remains the redness and peeling associated with the A reaction.
The area around the mouth tends to absorb well and experience more peeling, but since many people's concerns are liver spots or dark spots on the cheeks and pores on the nose and cheeks, I personally think it's a good approach to use it only on the nose and cheeks where peeling is less likely.
Additionally, reports indicate that stabilizing the epidermal-dermal junction with REVISION's DEJ Face Cream can help reduce redness.
As stated above
Mini-therapeutic treatment (duration depends on symptoms) using only Miramin, Miramix, tretinoin, or Complex A+ on the nose and cheeks. How about giving it a try?
