Hello!

Designing natural beauty with trust.

I am Masataka Fujihashi, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

The appearance of the nose significantly influences the overall balance of the face.

Particularly among Asians, many tend to have a low nasal bridge (the base of the nose) or a skeletal structure that appears flat when viewed from the side.

A treatment commonly performed to correct such a low nasal bridge and enhance facial contouring isRhinoplasty with Nasal Implant (Silicone Implant)is.

A prosthesis is,Artificial cartilage made from medical-grade siliconeabout that.

It is also used in artificial heart valves.Safe materialsBy inserting it above the nasal bone, it straightens the bridge of the nose and creates a sharp line.

Unlike hyaluronic acid injections,Semi-permanentThe biggest advantage is that the effects last.

Types of Prostheses and Current Mainstream Trends

There are two types of prostheses: the "I-type" and the "L-type."

In the past, L-shaped designs were also widely used,The L-type is rarely used nowadays.

Because the L-shaped prosthesis extends all the way to the tip of the nose.

・The skin on the tip of the nose thins and breaks, exposing the underlying tissue.

・Strong pressure increases the risk of infection

because such long-term problems are likely to occur.

CurrentlyType I is the standard

The tip of the nose is shaped using autologous cartilage (such as ear cartilage), not artificial materials. It is safe and natural.

Procedures that rely on prostheses for the tip of the nose are not currently recommended.

■ Key Points of Surgery

The prosthesisBe sure tosubperiostealput intoIt is important.

If it accidentally enters the periosteum...

• The prosthesis moves

• You can feel the wobble when you touch it

• May shift or deform over time

This is the most common cause of failure in consultations regarding corrections at other clinics.

An experienced physician can ensure stability through careful dissection and fixation.

■ If you also want a higher nose tip

Forcing a prosthesis onto the tip of the nose, as mentioned earlier, causes the skin to be unable to withstand it.Risk of running outwill increase.

When shaping the tip of the nose,Nasal Tip Reshaping Nasal Tip Cartilage Grafting / Nasal septum extension as needed

Combining these elements ensures a safe and beautiful finish.

■ Differences from Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Hyaluronic acid is convenient and has minimal downtime, but it requires ongoing treatment because it is absorbed by the body.

Additionally, there is a risk that repeated use may cause it to spread sideways and appear thicker.

In that regard, prostheses can be considered a method that achieves long-term changes in a single procedure.

Which one to choose is,It is ideal to consider factors such as "duration," "form," and "lifestyle" comprehensively.

Nasal implant

・Semi-permanent

・A sleek, straight nose

・No possibility of deformation

・One-month downtime

・Treatment time: Approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour

Hyaluronic acid injection for the nose

・Duration: Six months to one year

・A slightly rounded, smooth bridge of the nose that is less noticeable to others

・Repeated injections may cause the bridge of the nose to become thicker (widen sideways).

・No downtime

・Treatment time: Approximately 10 minutes

■ Summary

For those seeking a significantly higher nasal bridge and a semi-permanent change,Rhinoplasty using implants is a powerful option.

However,

• The tip of the nose is primarily constructed using the patient's own tissue.

• Accurate insertion into the subperiosteal space

• Balancing with other treatments is crucial

This is a point you'll definitely want to keep in mind.

And for rhinoplasty, not only implants,There is a method using autologous tissue.

We will cover this topic in detail in the next article.
