Minimize skin damage while precisely removing moles and warts
CO2 laser (carbon dioxide laser) is used to remove warts and moles. Compared to surgical excision, it minimizes bleeding. Compared to methods using an electrosurgical knife, it also leaves less noticeable scarring after treatment, with less pain and downtime. At BIANCA CLINIC, we check the type of mole or wart and propose the most suitable treatment for each patient. Beyond mole and wart removal, the CO2 laser can also treat raised skin spots (hyperpigmented lesions).
Warts can sometimes resemble whiteheads, leading some individuals to attempt incorrect self-treatment. Additionally, there have been cases where tiny acne lesions, too small for patients to notice themselves, were discovered during examinations. The condition of warts and moles varies significantly from person to person, making personalized treatment essential. At our clinic, doctors with extensive experience treating moles and warts perform the procedures. We also offer an unlimited removal package, allowing multiple areas to be treated within a fixed price range.

CHARACTERISTICSCO2 Laser (Mole and Wart Removal)
CO2 laser treatment (for moles and warts) is a procedure that uses a CO2 laser (carbon dioxide laser) device to remove moles and warts through laser irradiation.
The CO2 laser reacts with the water content in cells at the treatment site, generating thermal energy. This principle is utilized for removing moles and warts. By precisely targeting raised moles or warts with high water content, the internal moisture is vaporized, eliminating the tissue forming the mole or wart. New skin forms at the site through natural cell turnover, blending with the surrounding skin to become less noticeable.
Pinpoint irradiation treatment that minimizes damage to the skin
CO2 lasers enable pinpoint irradiation of moles and warts. This minimizes thermal effects, allowing treatment that limits damage to surrounding healthy skin tissue. The laser's vaporization effect only affects the skin's surface and does not penetrate deeper layers. Furthermore, blood vessels around the irradiated area coagulate due to thermal coagulation, resulting in less bleeding compared to surgical incisions made with a scalpel.
CO2 laser treatment uses local anesthesia, but for small moles or warts (1-2 spots), the procedure takes only a few seconds, so some patients choose to forgo anesthesia. Post-treatment pain is minimal, making this a recommended treatment even for first-time mole or wart removal.
Minimal downtime and inconspicuous scars
CO2 laser treatment offers the advantage of shorter downtime and less scarring compared to excision of moles or warts using an electrosurgical knife. However, the length and severity of downtime vary depending on the mole or wart. For example, redness from a small wart typically subsides within a few days as it heals. For moles, redness may persist for about 1 to 3 months even after the scab falls off. If pigmentation remains, additional treatments may be necessary.
At Bianca Clinic, we focus on minimizing downtime for mole removal. After diagnosing the affected area, we carefully target moles and warts with precise laser application, avoiding excessive heat exposure.
Benefits
MERITMoles and warts can be removed in a short treatment session.
Depending on the size and number of moles or warts, removal is possible in a short procedure of just about 10 minutes.

This treatment minimizes damage to the skin by precisely targeting the area without applying unnecessary heat, and also reduces bleeding during the procedure.
Scarring is less noticeable, with minimal downtime and pain.
Compared to excision with an electrosurgical knife, it causes less pain and downtime, and the postoperative scar is virtually unnoticeable.
Recommended Features
RECOMMENDED POINTSProviding customized treatment tailored to each patient
Bianca Clinic provides customized treatments tailored to each individual patient. Post-treatment recovery and downtime vary depending on the patient's skin condition at the time of treatment. Of course, they also depend on the physician's application technique and their assessment of the affected area. Therefore, Bianca Clinic utilizes dermoscopy for observing moles and warts, and employs the high-performance skin diagnostic device "VISIA" for skin analysis. Dr. Miyuki Iwama, a board-certified dermatologist by the Japanese Dermatological Association and our clinic's aesthetic dermatology director, thoroughly assesses treatment suitability and proposes the optimal treatment plan.
Features the new Rezac formula to minimize skin damage
The 10,600 nm (10.6 μm) wavelength light emitted by the CO2 laser generates intense heat energy when absorbed by the moisture within moles and warts. The temperature of the affected area instantly rises to several hundred degrees, causing the moisture to evaporate. This principle enables the removal of moles and warts.
Bianca Clinic utilizes the NEW Resac CO2 laser device, approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Its key features include minimal bleeding during treatment and precise, pinpoint irradiation that minimizes damage to surrounding skin. Scars are also less noticeable, allowing you to experience a beautiful finish.
Post-Treatment Progress for Mole and Wart Removal
After mole and wart removal using a CO2 laser, the following healing process typically occurs. However, the course of healing and the doctor's response may vary depending on the condition of the affected area.
【After Treatment on the Day】
Immediately after irradiation, apply ointment to the treated area and cover it with tape for protection. The area may feel warm and may become red. Be careful not to remove the tape for about two weeks. Your doctor will tell you when to remove the tape. If there is slight bleeding, gently press the area with gauze.
【Day after treatment to around Day 10】
Immediately after treatment, the area where the mole or wart was removed will appear sunken, but it will gradually become raised. Do not forcibly remove any scabs that form.
【After the Second Week~】
After the tape is removed, be sure to apply sunscreen to the treated area. The irradiated area may appear a light pink color and become slightly indented, but this will gradually fade. If pigmentation occurs, it usually improves within six months after treatment. Any scars from the irradiation should also be barely noticeable by this time.

Frequently Asked Questions About CO2 Laser Treatment (Mole and Wart Removal)
Q&AHow long does a CO2 laser treatment take?
Treatment time varies depending on the size of the mole or wart, but generally takes about 5 to 10 minutes per spot. However, if the area to be treated is large, it may take around 30 minutes. Including anesthesia preparation, the entire procedure can sometimes take 1 to 2 hours. Please allow ample time when coming in for your appointment.
Are there any risks or side effects associated with CO2 laser treatment?
After treatment, scabs may form, but these are temporary and usually become less noticeable over time. While CO2 laser procedures are considered to have few risks or side effects, redness, indentations, hyperpigmentation, or keloids may occur after treatment.
Are there any precautions to take regarding how to spend time after CO2 laser treatment?
After wart or mole removal, allowing the treated area to dry out may prevent proper healing. To prevent scarring or hyperpigmentation, strictly follow these three care steps:
・Moisturizing
・Sun protection
・Avoid irritating the affected area
Leave the protective tape on the affected area for about two weeks and do not remove it until instructed to do so by your doctor.
Also, avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise during the downtime. On the day of the procedure, refrain from saunas or long baths; showers only are recommended. You may wash your face starting the day of the procedure, but keep the tape on the treated area and avoid strong stimulation.
When can I start wearing makeup after CO2 laser treatment?
Makeup may be applied to areas other than the treated area starting the day of the procedure. While the treated area is protected with tape, apply makeup over the tape without causing any irritation. After the tape is removed, be sure to apply sunscreen to the treated area.
When is CO2 laser treatment not recommended?
Individuals who fall under the following categories should refrain from CO2 laser treatment.
・Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers
・Individuals with dermatitis symptoms
・Individuals prone to keloids
・Those who have sunburn (or plan to get sunburned)
・Individuals with large moles or warts who have been advised to undergo surgical removal following an examination
What types of moles are suitable for removal with a CO2 laser?
CO2 lasers are most effective for dark moles and raised moles. However, they are not suitable for large, deep moles. As a general guideline, CO2 laser treatment is preferable for moles under 5mm in size or raised spots (seborrheic keratoses). For moles larger than this or with deep roots, excision surgery is more appropriate. For such large moles, insurance-covered treatment at a general dermatology clinic may be applicable.
Do I need to visit the clinic for mole and wart removal treatment?
Deeply rooted moles may resurface with skin turnover, so removal may require multiple sessions. Please consult your physician regarding the number of visits and treatment costs.
