CHARACTERISTICS

What is Manuka Peel?

Manuka Peel is a popular exfoliation treatment combining lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and Manuka honey. The rare Manuka honey is known for its antibacterial and moisturizing properties, helping to balance the skin environment and prevent recurring acne.

Additionally, the exfoliating ingredients lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid help prevent various skin surface issues while promoting cell turnover and supporting skin function.

What is Manuka honey, the main ingredient in Manuka Peel?

Manuka honey is a honey harvested from the flowers of the “manuka” tree, which grows wild in Australia and New Zealand. Compared to regular honey, it is said to contain a high concentration of the antibacterial compound MGO (methylglyoxal).

MGO possesses antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and has been utilized since ancient times not only as a food but also as a medicine. Its usefulness is still recognized in Western medical settings today. Consequently, Manuka honey is also expected to have various applications in aesthetic medical procedures.

Characteristics of the ingredients contained in Manuka Peel

Manuka Peel uses a formulation called "Mix Peel Manuka." "Mix Peel Manuka" combines alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as lactic acid and glycolic acid with salicylic acid in an optimal ratio.

These acids help prevent skin problems and promote metabolism while supporting skin function. The defining feature of Mix Peel Manuka is the addition of Manuka honey extract (ingredient name: honey extract), which is said to work synergistically with AHAs.

The expected effects of the acids contained in "Mix Peel Manuka" are as follows:

・Lactic acid: Increases ceramide levels in the stratum corneum to moisturize the skin.
・Glycolic acid: A type of fruit acid. Inhibits the growth of acne bacteria and other bacteria.
・Salicylic acid: Softens and dissolves dead skin cells, supporting the penetration of lactic acid and glycolic acid.

Benefits

MERIT

May help prevent skin problems

MGO (methylglyoxal) contained in Manuka honey is said to have antibacterial properties. Therefore, it can help prevent acne and skin irritation caused by moisture and friction inside masks.

Maintain skin hydration

It is expected to moisturize the skin, maintaining its hydration and promoting suppleness.

Make skin less susceptible to external irritants

Its wound-healing effect forms a lipid barrier on the skin's surface, providing a sealing action that helps reduce sensitivity to external irritants.

RECOMMENDED POINTS

What Causes Skin Problems

One cause of skin problems is the buildup of dead skin cells. Healthy skin is said to renew itself approximately every 28 days, but factors like dryness, UV exposure, and aging can impair skin function, disrupting this turnover. This leads to the accumulation of dead skin cells, potentially causing skin issues such as acne, dark spots, dullness, and fine dry lines.

Manuka peel and other peeling treatments target clogged pores, promoting smoother sebum drainage. This helps prevent inflammation (red acne) and pus formation (yellow acne or acne scars) while inhibiting the proliferation of acne bacteria. By removing dead skin cells and boosting cell turnover through peeling treatments, you can aim to prevent various skin concerns.

Medical Peeling for Healthcare Facilities

Medical peeling refers to a procedure where relatively high-concentration agents are applied to the skin under a physician's supervision. These agents remove old keratinized cells and regulate the skin's turnover to an ideal cycle. Bianca Clinic uses six types of peeling agents, including Manuka Peel.

<Lalapear>
A next-generation peeling agent from Korea, formulated with LHA (lipohydroxy acid), a new ingredient developed by L'Oréal. Designed with minimal irritation and no downtime, it gently removes unwanted dead skin cells while protecting the skin.

<Professional Peel>
A French company's peeling agent formulated with glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid in a proprietary blend. Designed with risk mitigation in mind, it features relatively short downtime.

<Massage Peel / Collagen Peel>
Developed in Italy after extensive clinical research, this peeling agent targets deep skin layers without causing exfoliation, promoting collagen production and brightening the complexion.

<Bio Peel (Milan Peel)>
A European CE-approved TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel. Promotes skin lifting, brightening, and firmness while addressing dark spots, dullness, and discoloration. Suitable for use not only on the face but also on areas of the body with discoloration concerns.

<Bubble Peel>
A peeling agent for the Vitamin C Program utilizing fruit acid peel and enzyme therapy. Choose from three courses tailored to your skin concerns. Softens dead skin cells and guides skin toward a plump, moisturized texture.

<Manuka Peel>
A peeling agent combining three types of acids (lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid) with Manuka honey. Prevents recurring skin irritation and helps guide skin toward becoming less susceptible to external stimuli.

What's the difference between Manuka Peel and Manuka Facial?

Manuka Peel is a chemical peel treatment, while Manuka Facial is a treatment that uses Dermapen 4 plus serum infusion. Both treatments use formulations containing Manuka honey and are suitable for those concerned about acne or clogged pores, but the methods and formulations used differ.

At Manuka Peel, we finish the peeling treatment by conditioning the skin with serum and cream. Meanwhile, the Manuka Facial uses a dermapen lotion called CLR Lotion, which contains Manuka honey and other ingredients. For the finishing step, we cool the skin while applying our original pack, "B.THE MASK," which is highly popular at Bianca Clinic, to soothe and hydrate the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions About Manuka Peel

Q&A

Can Manuka peel help with enlarged pores and dark spots?

Yes. The exfoliating ingredients in Manuka Peel—lactic acid, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid—target enlarged pores and dark spots.

What's the difference between Manuka Peel and Massage Peel?

Manuka Peel uses "Manuka Mix Peel," which incorporates Manuka honey—known for its antibacterial properties—as a peeling ingredient.
On the other hand, the Massage Peel uses "PRX-T®33," which is said to support collagen production from deep within the skin, and is applied using a massaging technique.

How often should I get Manuka Peel treatments?

For skin texture improvement, we recommend a total of five sessions, once every two weeks. However, we will suggest the treatment frequency based on your skin condition.

What are the self-care precautions after a Manuka peel treatment?

We kindly ask that you thoroughly moisturize and protect your skin from UV rays. While Manuka Peel is less likely to cause peeling, you may notice makeup doesn't apply as smoothly a few days after the treatment.

Can Manuka peel be effective for acne scars?

Yes. The lactic acid contained in Manuka peel is said to address the redness of acne scars.

How long is the downtime for Manuka Peel?

After treatment, redness, dryness, peeling, and scabbing may occur for several days.

Are there people who cannot receive Manuka Peel treatments?

We kindly ask that the following individuals refrain from treatment: those who are pregnant or may be pregnant, those with a honey allergy, those with skin inflammation or wounds, those experiencing peeling skin, those who have used high-concentration retinol cosmetics or benzoyl peroxide within the past week, and those with aspirin-induced asthma.

Can Manuka Peel and Massage Peel be performed simultaneously?

Treatment cannot be performed on the same day. Please consult your physician for details.
