Did you know that there are foods that are said to cause cancer on the same level as tobacco? The foods that appear on your dinner table every day may actually be bad for your health.
Does processed meat cause cancer?

These are processed meats such as sausages, bacon, and ham. The expiration date of meat is not long, about 1 to 3 days, but processed meat can be stored for a long time, so it is suitable for bulk purchases and stockpiling. It is easy to cook and delicious, so some people may eat it almost every day.
Processed meat refers to any meat product that has been literally processed to make it more tasty and to preserve it for a longer period of time.
Examples of processed meat include sausages, bacon, ham, corned beef, beef jerky, canned meat, meat preparations, and fish sausages.
Why does processed meat cause cancer?

Processed meat is said to increase the risk of cancer due to the following ingredients:
◆ Red meat, one of the ingredients, contains a red pigment called heme.
Additives such as nitrates and nitrites used as preservatives
◆ Amine-based substances produced during high-temperature cooking when making processed meat
These three ingredients are said to be carcinogenic, which is why the dangers of processed meat are being highlighted.
Processed meat increases risk of colon cancer

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), an agency of the World Health Organization (WHO) specializing in cancer, is an organization that identifies carcinogenic substances and elucidates their mechanisms. There are five classifications, Group 1, Group 2A, Group 2B, Group 3, and Group 4, in order of increasing cancer risk, and 5 IARC experts from 10 countries have given the following assessments to processed meat and red meat.
◆ Processed meat…Group 1: Carcinogenic
◆ Red meat…Group 2A: Possibly carcinogenic
Processed meat, which has ample evidence of its carcinogenicity, is classified as Group 1, the same as cigarette smoke and alcohol. It has been reported that the harmful components contained in processed meat accumulate in the body's cells, increasing the likelihood of developing colorectal cancer.
Is it better to avoid processed meat altogether?

However, this does not mean that it is better to avoid processed meat altogether. The frequency of carcinogenicity caused by processed meat is overwhelmingly milder than that of tobacco.
According to research, eating 50g of processed meat every day increases the risk of colorectal cancer by approximately 18%. Eating too much can be harmful to your health, so if you consume it every day, it is recommended that you be careful not to eat too much.
If you habitually eat processed meat every day, you may want to switch to regular meat and get your protein from plant-based soy products or fish. It is also important to be conscious of leading a regular life, including a balanced diet and moderate exercise.
The most common cause of death from disease today is cancer

In the past, many people died from infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, but now the number one cause of death from disease in Japan is cancer. It is said that this is due in part to the spread of a Western diet, which includes processed meats such as sausages, bacon, and ham.
Diet is one of the important factors that shape our bodies. In order to take care of your body, you need to pay attention to what you eat. If you are interested in anti-aging care, please come to our counseling session.
