Hello!

Designing natural beauty with trust.

I am Masataka Fujihashi, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

One of the features that greatly influences facial impression is the nose.

The nose is positioned at the center of the face and connects three-dimensionally with the forehead, lips, and chin. Therefore, it is not merely about shape—such as being high or narrow—but also about...Overall facial balancebecomes a crucial factor in determining beauty.

In recent years, rather than a shape where only the nose stands out, one that doesn't draw unwanted attention and naturally draws the eye to the entire face"Forgetful Nose"It has increasingly become the ideal.

Whether viewed from the front, side, or angle, it looks natural and blends seamlessly with other parts. This is a major characteristic of the "forgetful nose."

This article explains the "golden ratio for the nose," which plastic surgeons actually reference in treatment design, and the key factors for a well-proportioned nose.

■ Beauty from the Front View|Balance of Nose Width and Tip

The most important feature on the front view is the width of the nose.

The ideal is considered to be,The width of the nostrils is roughly the same as the distance between the inner corners of both eyes.that it is.

A wide nose makes the face appear flat, while one that's too narrow creates an unnatural and stiff impression.

Additionally, the thickness of the nasal tip and any asymmetry between the left and right sides are also important points.

Among Japanese people,The width of the nasal tip is approximately half the width of the nose. The area from the tip of the nose to the nasal bridge is approximately one-third of the width of the nostrils. However, it is considered to appear natural and elegant.

However, since the specific area perceived as "a large nose" varies from person to person, it is important to carefully determine which part you wish to improve.

■ Beauty Seen from the Profile|E-Line and Nose Height

An important indicator for evaluating the beauty of a profile isE-lineis.

The E-line is the line connecting the tip of the nose, the tip of the mouth, and the tip of the chin in a straight line. It is widely recognized as a standard for assessing the overall balance of the profile.

In an ideal profile,The mouth is positioned inside the line connecting the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin.Statusis considered beautiful.

If the nose is too low, the mouth area may appear to protrude forward. Conversely, if the nose alone is made too high, it can disrupt the overall harmony of the face.

In other words, a nose isn't necessarily better the higher it is,It must be at an appropriate height within the E-line.is important.

The beauty of a profile is determined not by the nose alone, but by its relationship with the jawline and mouth.

■ Understanding Nose Length and Angle|Relative Balance is Key

Nose length (nasal length) is,The point from the nasal root to the point below the noseIt is determined by the anatomical structure and occupies the central third of the face.

However, what matters is not absolute length,Relative balance with the forehead and chinis.

While Western women often consider around 55mm to be ideal,Among Japanese womenApproximately 45mm from the nasal root to the tip of the noselooks naturalThere are many cases,Forcing a Western-style length will lead to an awkward feel. There are times when...

Additionally, as factors that influence the impression of the nose,Naso-labial angle (angle between the nasal columella and upper lip)It is also important.

Among Asians90 to 95 degreesHowever, within the bounds of elegance and naturalnessIt is thought that...

If the angle is too shallow, it can result in a downward-pointing nose, while if it's too wide, it tends to create a childish impression.

■ Alar-columellar triangle (ACR)|The key point determining the three-dimensional contour of the nasal tip

The alar-columellar triangle (ACR) determines the impression of the nose when viewed from below.

This is the triangle formed by the alar base (nostrils) and the columella,Inverted triangleis idealIt is said that.

Ideally,The base of the nostrils is lower than the columella.About 2mm higherpositionand the nasal rim is smoothS-curveThe act of drawing creates a natural and refined impression.

When this balance is disrupted, the tip of the nose may appear heavy or give the impression of a downward-pointing nose.

■ Nose Balance Viewed from Below|The Ratio of Nasal Bridge to Nasal Tip

The balance of the nose when viewed from below also significantly affects the overall impression.

The ratio of the vertical length from the nasal bridge to the tip of the noseApproximately 2:3When this happens, the tip of the nose appears more refined and elegant.

If this ratio is disrupted, the tip of the nose may appear rounded or the nose itself may seem overly emphasized, making it crucial to evaluate the balance from below as well.

Summary

There are many criteria for a beautiful nose, but it is not necessary to adjust everything precisely according to the numbers.

Taking into account factors such as the width of the nostrils, the E-line, nose length and angle, and ACR,Harmonizing naturally with the entire faceAbove all else, it is most important.

The golden ratio serves only as a guideline for design.

By determining the balance that suits your bone structure and facial features, you can achieve an elegant, understated "forgettable nose."
