ezGEL: An Option for Addressing Each Person’s Concerns

At Bianca Clinic, we are committed to both aesthetic medicine and regenerative medicine, guided by the philosophy of fostering health and beauty from the inside out, rather than focusing solely on outward appearance.

ezGEL is a treatment that uses an autologous PRF (platelet-rich fibrin)-based preparation derived from the patient’s own blood. We recommend this treatment to restore volume by injecting the solution under the eyes, into nasolabial folds, and into sunken areas of the cheeks, with the added benefit of improving skin quality through the growth factors contained in the PRF.

Although PRF therapy has long been used in the field of regenerative medicine, ezGEL is a system that further advances this PRF therapy and is one of the procedures gaining increasing attention in the field of aesthetic medicine in Europe and the United States.

At our clinic, we continuously incorporate the latest domestic and international research on ezGEL and PRF techniques, as well as expert insights into the progression of their effects, to provide treatment plans tailored to each patient’s individual constitution and preferences.

CHARACTERISTICS

What is ezGEL?

ezGEL is an autologous gel filler derived from the patient's own blood. It is based on a blood concentrate obtained by low-speed centrifugation of blood, “PRF"It contains platelets, growth factors, and other components."

Plasma (PPP) separated from ezPRF is heated to gel the albumin, andPRFezGEL is a mixture of these components. The ezGEL system, which utilizes components derived from the patient’s own blood without using any artificial synthetic ingredients, has garnered attention as one of the emerging fields in regenerative medicine and aesthetic medicine that utilizes autologous materials.

ezGEL(イージーゲル)とは

Not only does it restore volume, but it also supports collagen production

ezGEL is not just a product designed to add volume to the injection site. It serves as a base forPRFIt contains multiple growth factors (proteins that promote cell proliferation and division), which are believed to act on fibroblasts in the dermis to support the production of collagen, elastin, and other components that maintain the skin’s firmness and elasticity.

Fibroblasts play a key role in producing components essential for firm, elastic skin, such as collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Therefore, ezGEL is a formulation that is expected to not only provide physical volume restoration but also improve skin texture.

Differences Between ezGEL and Other Injectable Formulations

While ezGEL and other injectable treatments—such as hyaluronic acid injections—are both sometimes chosen to restore volume in areas such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines), sunken cheeks, and marionette lines, they differ in their ingredients and characteristics.

For example, some hyaluronic acid fillers undergo cross-linking (with additives) to stabilize them, which makes it possible to dissolve them using hyaluronidase (a dissolving enzyme). In contrast, ezGEL is made exclusively from components derived from the patient’s own blood, so it cannot be dissolved.

Compared to skin boosters, ezGEL is expected to provide a volumizing effect while retaining the characteristic of being 100% autologous. At Bianca, we’re happy to discuss which treatment is best suited to your goals and concerns. Our doctors will assess your skin condition and medical history before determining your eligibility, so please feel free to consult with us first.

Benefits

MERIT

Formulated with naturally derived ingredients and designed with allergy risks in mind

Since it is produced from the patient's own blood, it is considered to minimize the risk of allergies caused by artificial materials.

Treatments that do not use artificial additives

It is characterized by the use of no additives, anticoagulants, chemicals, or synthetic materials; instead, blood is separated and heated to cause it to gel.

The procedure is simple and involves relatively little downtime.

All it takes to create ezGEL is a small blood sample. Just like other injectable treatments, the procedure is completed by injecting the solution into the desired area, so it involves relatively little downtime.

KEY FEATURES

Next-Generation Compounded Medications Gaining Attention in Europe and the U.S.

A multicenter clinical study published in 2025 reported that when PRF and ezGEL were injected into 25 participants with moderate to severe nasolabial folds, the depth of the folds improved by up to 50% after one month, and this improvement was maintained even after six months*.

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) therapy has long been used in the field of aesthetic medicine, but the ezGEL protocol—which involves adding heated plasma to PRF—is attracting attention as a relatively new approach. However, it has not yet become widely adopted in Japan. That is precisely why our clinic places great importance on continuously reviewing domestic and international research papers and discussions at academic conferences, and on providing our patients with thorough explanations.

During the pre-treatment consultation, we will carefully review your medical history—including any allergies, your physical constitution, and your history of cosmetic procedures—before making recommendations, including whether ezGEL is suitable for you. Together, we will explore options tailored to your concerns and preferences.

How ezGEL Is Manufactured and the Equipment and Facilities Used

We use a dedicated PRF kit and equipment to manufacture ezGEL, and the entire process is performed in-house. First, we draw a small sample of blood from the patient upon arrival, then centrifuge it using specialized equipment to separate it into ezPRF and plasma.

When the separated plasma is heated to 75°C using a specialized heater, the structure of a protein called human serum albumin—which is present in the blood—changes, forming a natural gel-like structure. ezGEL is created by mixing this gelled plasma with ezPRF. A key feature of ezGEL is that it forms a gel solely through temperature changes, without using chemical cross-linking agents (such as BDDE*) typically employed in the manufacture of hyaluronic acid fillers.

*BDDE……1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether

ezGEL can also be combined with other treatments

For procedures aimed at restoring volume, hyaluronic acid injections and fat grafting are among the options. ezGEL shares a common feature with fat grafting in that it uses the patient’s own tissue and components to restore volume.

On the other hand, the methods of extraction, the properties of the formulation, and the suitable treatment areas differ. Therefore, ezGEL may offer a new option for people who have little natural fat or who are concerned about the cross-linking agents added to hyaluronic acid injections.

Frequently Asked Questions About PRF(ezGEL)

Q&A

Is ezGEL made solely from my own blood?

Yes. It is an autologous preparation made from the patient’s own blood. The blood is centrifuged using specialized equipment, and no cross-linking agents or additives are used during the manufacturing process.

Is ezGEL an alternative to hyaluronic acid injections?

It depends on the specific goal. While both can be used to restore volume, their ingredients and characteristics differ, so it’s important to choose the option that best suits your concerns and the treatment area. If you’re looking to achieve significant volume, we may combine ezGEL with hyaluronic acid injections or fat grafting. Drawing from a wide range of treatment options, we’ll provide recommendations tailored to your needs.

What is the difference between ezGEL injections and PRP injections?

PRP injection is a procedure in which “platelet-rich plasma (PRP)”—a blood concentrate obtained by centrifuging blood—is injected directly into the treatment site. ezGEL uses a combination of PRF and a heat-treated albumin gel derived from plasma. A key feature of this treatment is that it not only restores volume but also helps promote collagen production. It is considered suitable for those concerned about fine lines around the eyes and mouth.

Does ezGEL cause any allergic reactions?

Since ezGEL is made entirely from the patient’s own tissue, the risk of rejection or severe allergic reactions caused by foreign materials is considered low in theory. However, because the heat treatment causes slight changes in the properties of the proteins, the possibility of an immune reaction occurring in extremely rare cases cannot be completely ruled out. At our clinic, we will explain in detail during your consultation not only the benefits of ezGEL but also its potential side effects. If you have concerns about complications or other issues, please consult with us before the procedure.

Can I wear makeup and go about my normal daily activities on the day of the treatment?

You can resume your normal daily activities on the same day, but we ask that you wait until the next day to apply makeup directly over the injection sites. The ezGEL procedure involves relatively little downtime, even when performed on areas that are easily visible to others, such as under the eyes or on the lips. Since this may vary depending on the specific treatment and your individual constitution, we will explain this to you individually during your consultation.

When can I expect to feel the effects of ezGEL?

The volume and firmness resulting from the injections tend to be noticeable immediately after the procedure. After that, you can expect to see changes in skin firmness and texture over the course of about one month. The way the effects manifest and the timing of their appearance may vary from person to person, depending on the treatment area and individual constitution.

How many sessions will I need?

While you may notice results from a single ezGEL treatment, the recommended course is three sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. In treated areas such as under the eyes, around the eyes, and nasolabial folds, you may feel firmer skin immediately after the injection, and your skin’s condition will continue to improve over the course of about one month. Our clinic offers pricing options for both a single session and a course of three sessions. The number of sessions required varies depending on the severity of your concerns and your preferences, so please discuss this with us during your consultation.

Can ezGEL dissolve like hyaluronic acid?

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, ezGEL is not designed to be dissolved with medication.
