Hello!

Designing natural beauty with trust.

I am Masataka Fujihashi, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Among the downtime of rhinoplasty, postoperative tape fixation is surprisingly often neglected.

As the swelling subsides, many people feel that it looks fine now and that it is time to remove it.

However, rhinoplasty is not completed the moment the surgery is over; the stability and satisfaction of the final result depends greatly on how the postoperative fixation period is spent.

Why is tape fixation necessary after rhinoplasty?

Swelling, internal bleeding, and edema occur simultaneously inside the nose after surgery.

Skin, cartilage, and moved tissue are still unstable and susceptible to outside influences.

By applying light pressure and support with tape at this time,Promotes reduction of swelling, reduces left-right differences in the nasal bridge and tip of the nose, and prevents raised scarscan be expected.

The nasal apex in particular has thicker skin and is prone to scar thickening.

Without proper fixation, the tip of the nose may appear round or leave a widened impression.

Tape fixation is not a process to create a new shape, but to protect the prepared shape from unnecessary changes and to settle it in a stable state.

The cast is not complete when it comes off.

After rhinoplasty, the bones and cartilage are first firmly fixed in a cast.

This cast immobilization usually takes about one week, or two weeks if an osteotomy is even performed.

However, the internal swelling and scarring do not completely subside when the cast is removed.

Even if the appearance is well-defined, inside, the tissue is in the process of slowly moving and taking shape.

Post-cast tape fixation plays a role in supporting this period of instability.

What does it mean to continue tape fixation?

For tape fixation,

Prevent recurrence of swelling and swelling

Reduce thickening of scars

Prevent rounding of the tip of the nose and left-right differences

Stabilize the final line

and other important roles.

The image is that of a sponge soaking up water and hardening as it swells,

Once properly squeezed and tightened, does it harden?

Think of it as similar to that difference.

Because the surgery is something that takes a lot of time, money, and energy, there is a big difference in satisfaction with the same surgery depending on "how it is finished".

Three months may seem like a long time, but if you spend this time carefully, you will be left with a semi-permanent, stable, beautiful nose shape beyond that.

Fixed Term Concept and Timing of Removal

Basically,Tape fixation recommended for 3 months postoperatively if possibleI am doing.

The first week or two of firm immobilization, including during the day, and then continue mainly when the patient is at home or sleeping.

Nighttime is a time when blood flow is easily altered and swelling is likely to return.

Tape the tip of the nose, even if only while sleeping, to make it easier to keep the tip of the nose from bulging.

When the hardness of the nose to the touch subsides, there is little swelling, and the shape of the nose does not change when the tape is removed, consult with your doctor and gradually reduce the frequency.

■ Summary

Tape fixation after rhinoplasty is,This is an important process to protect the shape of the nose tip, reduce scarring, and stabilize the finished product.

It may seem like a bit of a hassle, but how you spend this fixed period will make a big difference in how satisfied you will be in a few years.

Don't be tedious, but be polite.

Think of it as a time to nurture your nose beautifully and continue to take care of it.
