Who Is Quantum Right For? Dr. Hatate, an expert in anti-aging treatments, explains the indications and key considerations for selecting procedures in aesthetic medicine.
As a plastic surgeon, he has experienced many cases and has developed precise techniques and a deep anatomical understanding. Currently, combining his knowledge of plastic surgery with the latest technology, he provides a wide range of cosmetic treatments for skin, contouring, sagging, and other concerns of aging. He has also shared the responsibility of writing Japan's first textbook on gynecological cosmetic surgery, "Basic Techniques of Gynecological Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery. From her experience as an idol during medical school, she realized that "natural beauty" goes beyond the will to choose how you want to be, and she focuses on supporting her patients to "love yourself more every day". We are English-speaking and value counseling that is easy to talk to.

Hello, everyone!
Dr. Arisu is a board-certified plastic surgeon by the Japanese Society of Plastic Surgery who offers natural and elegant rejuvenation. In this post, I’ll address a question we often get: “I’m curious about Quantum… but is it right for me?”
Actually, this is a question I get asked very often during consultations. While I do think Quantum is an excellent treatment, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for every type of sagging skin. The treatment that’s truly right for you depends on your age, skin condition, and the results you’re hoping to achieve.
In this article, I’ll share my personal perspective on the characteristics of people for whom Quantum is suitable—and those for whom it isn’t. I’ll also discuss how to choose between Quantum and other treatments for sagging skin, so please be sure to read all the way to the end.
What Is Quantum? Why It’s Gaining Attention in Aesthetic Medicine
Quantum is gaining attention as a “non-invasive skin tightening treatment” that uses radiofrequency (RF).
What makes this treatment unique is that a thin cannula (a needle-like handpiece) is inserted beneath the skin to deliver heat directly to three layers: the dermis, subcutaneous tissue, and subcutaneous fat. This allows for thorough treatment of the FSN (fibrous septal network)—the mesh-like tissue that supports the skin—which is difficult to reach with treatments that deliver energy from the surface.

A key feature of Quantum is its ability to directly target the “root cause” of sagging.
One of Quantum’s greatest strengths is its ability to simultaneously tighten the skin while delivering energy to the fat layer. Another reason so many people choose it is that it can be used not only on the face but also on the entire body, including the abdomen and upper arms.

What are the applications of Quantum in aesthetic medicine?
Quantum is a treatment suitable for those concerned about sagging in the facial and body contours. Here, we’ll explain who Quantum is suitable for and who it isn’t.
Who is Quantum best suited for?
Quantum, which does not involve incisions, is ideal for people with these concerns or desires.
- I'm concerned about sagging along my jawline and under my chin
- I'm concerned about sagging skin and body fat
- I want to treat sagging skin without surgery
- I want to lose fat and tone my skin at the same time
- For those who haven't been satisfied with other skin-tightening devices
- For those who want to minimize downtime as much as possible
In particular, I get the impression that Quantum’s deep-tissue treatment is often effective for people who say, “I’ve had Hyfu, but I wanted to see a little more change,” or “I want to address both fat and sagging at the same time.”
Since swelling and bruising after the procedure usually subside within about 1 to 2 weeks, I believe this is a good option for those who are hesitant to undergo surgery.
People for Whom Quantum Isn't Suitable
On the other hand, there are, of course, cases where Quantum is not the best choice.
- People for whom volume loss is the main cause of sagging
- People who want to improve severe sagging
- People who are looking only for immediate results from a treatment
For example, for people whose cheeks have become sunken or whose temples have become hollow, the cause may be a loss of volume rather than sagging. In such cases, using treatments like hyaluronic acid injections to restore volume can sometimes result in a much more natural-looking outcome.
Quantum is also a treatment for sagging skin that provides a gradual tightening effect. Please understand that it’s difficult to fulfill requests like, “I want to look refreshed in time for this week’s party.”
Differences Among the Various Sagging Treatments Offered by BIANCA
The differences among the various treatments for sagging skin lie in the layers they target and the techniques used. Our clinic offers a variety of treatments designed to address sagging skin, such as HIFU and thread lifts.
We’ve heard from some customers that because there are so many treatment options, they have a hard time choosing! First, let me explain what kinds of treatments we offer.
What are some other sagging skin treatments besides Quantum?
Here is a brief summary of the skin tightening treatments offered at Bianca.
|
treatment |
Features |
|---|---|
|
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) |
Targeting the fascial layer with ultrasound. A sagging treatment designed with downtime in mind |
|
Mofius 8 burst |
Microneedle RF stimulates the epidermis and dermis to boost collagen production and firm the skin. It also helps improve pores and skin texture. |
|
Thread Lift (BIANCA LIFT) |
The tissue is physically lifted using threads. This method provides immediate results and is effective even for relatively severe sagging. |
|
Surgical Facelift |
A surgical procedure that involves making an incision in the skin and fascia to lift the tissues. Recommended for those who prioritize significant skin tightening and long-lasting results. |
|
hyaluronic acid injection |
For sagging caused by volume loss. Inject into the appropriate areas to restore a three-dimensional appearance and a youthful look. |
Our clinic offers a wide range of treatments with the goal of providing you with the best cosmetic medical care possible. We sometimes hear patients say, “There are so many options, I don’t know which one to choose.” If you’re having trouble deciding on a treatment, please feel free to consult with one of our doctors or staff members.
We offer cosmetic medical treatments tailored to each individual—not just at Quantum.
Quantum × Other Aesthetic Medical Treatments
Quantum can also be combined with thread lifts and liposuction.During an actual counseling session, sometimes clients choose to have just the “Quantum” treatment, while other times I suggest a combination of treatments. Let me introduce some of the main combinations.
Quantum × Thread Lift
For those concerned about both excess fat and sagging. We use Quantum to tighten the subcutaneous tissue while using thread lifts to provide firm lifting.
Quantum × Liposuction
If you have a significant amount of body fat or are hoping to achieve weight loss results, combining this treatment with liposuction is recommended to ensure effective fat removal. Since Quantum’s RF heat also helps control bleeding during the procedure, this combination can help minimize downtime.
Quantum × Mofius 8 Burst
For those concerned about sagging skin or uneven skin texture. You can achieve an ideal facial and body contour with improved skin texture.

[Treatment Name] VASER Body Liposuction (Abdomen), Quantum Body (Abdomen)
[Treatment Period and Number of Sessions] Top: Before treatment; Bottom: 4 months after treatment
[Side Effects and Risks] Bruising, swelling, burns, hyperpigmentation, nerve damage, asymmetry, infection, hematoma, unevenness, pulmonary embolism, burns, and complications related to anesthesia, etc.
[Cost] Vaser Body Liposuction (flanks, upper abdomen, lower abdomen): 825,000 yen; Quantum Body (upper abdomen, lower abdomen): 352,000 yen *Anesthesia fees are charged separately.
In this case, we combined Quantum treatment with liposuction to reduce abdominal volume. We determined the treatment plan after thoroughly discussing the patient’s current condition and desires.
Prices may vary when combining treatments with Quantum compared to standalone treatments. Please check our price list for details, or feel free to ask a staff member.
What BIANCA Prioritizes When Proposing Quantum Treatments

What I prioritize in my consultations is not simply focusing on the treatment itself, but carefully assessing “what is causing the client’s sagging.” Is it fat, a loss of elasticity, or a loss of volume? The optimal treatment varies depending on the cause.
Even when it comes to sagging skin, everyone has different preferences—some prefer “natural-looking results,” others want “a significant change,” and still others want “minimal downtime.”
That’s why, during consultations, I make a point of discussing not only the desired look but also your lifestyle. If I think Quantum is a good fit, I’ll confidently recommend it; if another treatment is more suitable, I’ll honestly let you know.
A Doctor Answers Frequently Asked Questions About Quantum
Finally, we’ve compiled a list of questions that patients considering Quantum often have.
At what age do most people start taking Quantum?
We receive consultations from a wide range of age groups—from people in their late 20s and 30s who want to lose weight or are beginning to focus on preventing sagging, to those in their 40s through 60s who are looking to effectively address sagging.
Since your “current skin condition” and “what you want to achieve” are more important than your age, please don’t hesitate to consult with us—even if you think, “Maybe it’s still too early.”
How severe is Quantum's injury?
It involves only a needle puncture of a few millimeters to insert the cannula. Since there is no incision like in surgery, you don't need to worry too much about scarring.
Can Quantum Replace Thread Lifts?
While it can serve as an alternative in some cases, this isn’t true in every situation. If the sagging is relatively mild, Quantum alone is often sufficient; however, if you’re looking for a firm lift or want to physically lift the tissue, a thread lift may be a better option. We’ll determine which procedure is right for you during your consultation.
Can Quantum be used in combination with other cosmetic medical treatments?
In many cases, this treatment can be combined with other procedures. For example, we may consider combining it with thread lifts or liposuction. However, the appropriate combination varies depending on your individual condition, so please discuss your preferences during your consultation.
In what cases can't you receive Quantum treatment?
We may not be able to provide treatment to pregnant women or individuals with infections or inflammation at the treatment site. Additionally, treatment may not be appropriate depending on your medical history or current medications. If you have any concerns, please feel free to let us know during your consultation, and we’ll review them with you.
If you're considering Quantum for cosmetic medical treatments, it's important to determine whether it's right for you.
In this article, we discussed the characteristics of people for whom Quantum is suitable—and those for whom it is not—as well as how to determine the best approach when choosing between Quantum and other treatments for sagging skin.
Quantum is a reliable aesthetic treatment option for those seeking natural-looking changes. However, the causes of sagging vary from person to person. I believe that choosing a treatment based on an understanding of the specific cause of your sagging—rather than simply because “it bothers you a little”—will lead to results that bring you greater satisfaction.
If you’re wondering, “What’s right for me?” we strongly encourage you to come in for a consultation. Bianca’s doctors will work with you to determine the aesthetic treatment that’s best suited for you.
