A midface lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that lifts sagging midface tissue along with its soft tissues and secures it to the periosteum. This creates a smoother, more youthful, and balanced appearance by harmonizing the lower eyelids (lower eyelids) with the midface. By lifting cheek fat from the lower eyelid margin up to the Golgoline, it minimizes the appearance of sagging cheeks and nasolabial folds, creating a more defined midface contour from under the eyes to the sides of the nose.
This lift procedure physically removes and lifts sagging skin, muscle, and fat, offering long-lasting results. It also features incisions made along the lower lash line, making scars less noticeable.
There are two types of midface lifts.
There are two types of midface lift procedures: one that lifts tissue from above the periosteum and one that lifts tissue from below the periosteum.
・Midface Lift (Superperiosteal) … A surgical technique where the periosteum is dissected from the lower lash line upward to elevate cheek fat, which is then sutured and fixed to the orbital periosteum. Like the open Hamra technique, an incision is made along the lower lash line.
・Midface Lift (Subperiosteal) … A surgical technique where the anterior aspect of the zygomatic bone is dissected from beneath the periosteum and sutured to the periosteum of the infraorbital rim, along with the orbital septum and orbital fat. Compared to the supraperiosteal approach, it offers greater stability and is less prone to relapse.

While some clinics offer the Hamra procedure as a separate treatment, Bianca Clinic includes it within the mid-face lift. This allows simultaneous addressing of under-eye sagging and mid-face concerns, resulting in a balanced, bright, and youthful eye area.
Note that the Hamra procedure includes the external Hamra method, which involves making an incision along the lower eyelid's lash line, and the internal Hamra method, which involves making an incision from the mucosal area on the inner side of the eyelid. However, only the external Hamra method, which shares the same incision site, can be combined with a midface lift.

Design
Makeup must be removed before treatment, so please cleanse and wash your face beforehand. If you wear contact lenses, please remove them. The doctor will mark the area to visualize the final result. Once the design is finalized, we will proceed with disinfection, anesthesia, and the procedure.

The procedure is performed along the designed line. The surgery takes approximately 3 hours. Since it is performed under anesthesia, you will not feel any pain.
Compression
After the procedure, you will rest with the treated area compressed to minimize swelling and bruising. Additionally, apply pressure to the under-eye area with gauze or tape for three days post-procedure. Ointment and eye drops will be administered for one week.
Suture removal
Suture removal is scheduled for 7 days after surgery. We will remove the sutures after you arrive at the clinic. If you have any concerns about your recovery progress, please feel free to ask questions.

How long is the downtime for a midface lift?
Compared to bear-catching surgery, the surgical area is larger, so swelling and bruising tend to last longer. However, it is typically an area that can be concealed with a mask. While individual results vary, swelling and bruising often subside within about two weeks. The estimated time for other aspects of downtime to settle is approximately one month. The estimated time until the final result is achieved after the swelling subsides is about two to three months post-surgery.
Are there any precautions to take during the downtime after a mid-face lift?
Washing your face and applying makeup (excluding eye makeup) is possible starting the day after surgery. Please refrain from applying eye makeup or wearing contact lenses for one week after surgery.
