What is the downtime like after liposuction? A doctor explains the 7 days after surgery

"I want to get liposuction on my stomach, but I'm worried about the downtime..." "How much time will I have to take off work?"
We hear such comments often.
Liposuction is one of the most satisfying treatments, as it can dramatically change the appearance of the body after just one treatment.
On the other hand, many people are hesitant to take the first step because they are worried about post-operative pain and swelling, and the impact on their work.
This time, Dr. Saiga Toshiyuki from BIANCA CLINIC will introduce the day-by-day downtime after abdominal liposuction up to the 7th day.
[Abdominal liposuction] Downtime progress explained with photos
Let's take a look at the actual photos.
On the day of surgery (immediately after surgery)

Immediately after surgery, internal bleeding and swelling will not yet be at their peak.
Please rest on the day.
The two wounds in the groin and one in the lower back have been left open, and swelling will be reduced by draining the anesthetic solution and blood over a day.
(You will be asked to wear sponge compression, a girdle, waterproof pads, and a diaper.)
The day after surgery
The wound is sutured.
You will now be able to take a shower, but try to avoid getting the sponge part wet as much as possible.
There is some pain, but it is easily controlled with painkillers.
You will be able to go about your daily life without any problems.
XNUMXrd day after surgery

The swelling is at its peak at this time.
In the case of the Abcrux design, sponge compression is performed until the third day after surgery.
The volume will not be a big concern as it will be held down by compression garments.
As you can see in the photo, the internal bleeding is red to purple in color.
(It rarely appears overall.)
XNUMXth day after surgery

It's the day to remove the stitches.
(Usually scars are created on the navel, groin, and lower back)
The internal bleeding has thinned and turned yellow.
Because there is still swelling, the abdominis line is hidden.
Don't worry, we'll take our time to get closer to the final product.

Things you need to know in advance! How to spend your downtime
To make your downtime as comfortable as possible, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Take it easy on the first day
- Wear the compression girdle correctly(Use a dedicated product with good support.)
・Protect the sponge part from getting wet when showering
If the swelling or pain is severe, do not push yourself and take plenty of rest.
Some Bianca Clinic staff return to normal work the next day, but it is important to adjust your work at your own pace.
We recommend that you take at least three days off after your surgery.
Understand the downtime of liposuction correctly and take a step towards peace of mind
The outcome of liposuction depends on how you care for yourself during the downtime.
By properly understanding the postoperative course and precautions, you will be able to approach treatment with peace of mind.
