1. What is degreasing?

Transconjunctival fat removal is a procedure that removes excess fat by accessing the area from the inside of the lower eyelid (conjunctival side).
Recommended for those wanting to improve tired or aged-looking eyes. Often results in a natural tear trough appearance.
Since no incisions are made on the skin surface, no scars are visible from the outside.
This treatment is effective for improving puffy dark circles caused by protruding orbital fat and is often chosen by individuals in their 20s to 40s with minimal skin laxity.
(For individuals with significant skin laxity or pronounced tear troughs, the Hamra method is recommended.)

2. Estimated Downtime

DowntimeThis refers to the period after treatment during which daily activities or going out may be affected.
For transconjunctival fat removal, the guidelines are as follows:

• SwellingApproximately 2 to 7 days (peak on the next day to the third day)

• bruising0 to 2 weeks (may not appear)

• PainMild to almost none

• Resuming makeupThe next day to several days later (depending on the doctor's judgment)

Recovery is relatively quick, but individual differences exist, and it may take longer depending on your constitution and the treatment area.

3. Progress During Downtime

Postoperative ~ Day 1

• Swelling is likely to occur due to the effects of anesthesia or inflammation at the incision site.

• A slight feeling of pressure, or a sensation of eye strain

• Eye discharge increases.

Days 2–3

• Peak of swelling

• If bruising occurs, the color will darken during this period.

Days 4–7

• Swelling and redness gradually subside, and bruising turns yellowish.

• It can often be covered up with makeup.

1 to 2 weeks later

• Looks almost natural

• A time when it's easier to resume exercise and bathing

4. How to Spend Your Time to Minimize Downtime

• Sleep with your head elevatedTo prevent puffiness around the eyes

• Refrain from drinking alcohol and exercisingImproved blood flow may prolong swelling.

6. Scheduling Downtime and Appointments

Downtime is relatively short, but if you have important events or plans to appear in public, you should allow at leasttwo weeks' leewayIt is recommended to schedule with this in mind.
Bruising and swelling may persist for an extended period.

The downtime for fat removal is relatively short, and swelling and bruising often subside quickly enough to be concealed with makeup.
However, due to individual differences, we cannot guarantee that it will be cured in exactly X days.
By allowing ample time in your schedule and carefully following post-operative care instructions, you can expect a smoother recovery.
