Hello!

Designing natural beauty with trust.

I am Masataka Fujihashi, a board-certified plastic surgeon.

After rhinoplasty, you may notice that the tip of your nose appears unnaturally thin or that the middle section looks strongly pinched when viewed from the front or at an angle.

This situation is not merely a matter of design preference,Structural deformationThere is a possibility that it is occurring.

So-called "Pinch NoseThis is referred to as a state of "".

Pinch nose deformities not only appear unnatural but can also affect nasal airflow, making them a concern requiring attention from both aesthetic and functional perspectives.

■ What is a Pinch Nose?

Pinch nose is,The sides of the nose tip are pulled inward, forming a pinched shape.refers to a state that appears to be.

The tip of the nose naturally maintains its three-dimensional appearance through a moderate roundness and width. However, when this support is lost, it can appear extremely thin.

Especially when viewed from the front, if the tip of the nose appears sharp and the nostrils seem relatively prominent, the likelihood of a pinched nose increases.

■ Main Causes of Pinched Nose

One reason is that,Excessive pinching of the alar cartilageis.

In nasal tip surgery, cartilage is sutured to reshape the tip. However, excessive tightening can flatten the three-dimensional structure of the nasal tip, leading to progressive deformation over time.

Also,Removing too much fat or subcutaneous tissue from the tip of the noseThe cushion supporting the skin is lost, leaving the skin adhered to the cartilage.

Furthermore, in cases of thicker skin, the added weight from above can sometimes accentuate deformities after surgery.

In revision surgery cases, scar contracture often contributes to more pronounced retraction.

■ Impact on Appearance and Functionality

With a pinched nose, not only does the tip appear unnaturally pointed, but asymmetry may also be noticeable.

Additionally, it can cause the nostrils to appear wider, disrupting the overall balance of the nose.

When the nasal cavity becomes structurally narrow,You may also experience difficulty breathing. It is undeniable that cosmetic surgery can result in functional disadvantages.

■ Approach to Improvement in Revision Surgery

When correcting a pinched nose, the most important thing is to "rebuild the collapsed support."

Rather than simply widening the shape, we reconstruct the structure so the tip of the nose can naturally maintain its three-dimensional form.

Ear cartilage or rib cartilage is used to reinforce the nasal tip, and if necessary, the nasal axis is stabilized through septal extension.

By considering not only the tip of the nose but also its connection to the bridge and the entire bone structure, recurrence can be more easily prevented.

When the skin is thick, strength design that anticipates springback is essential.

■ Summary

A pinched nose is not merely a "nose tip that is too narrow," but a deformation caused by structural failure.

In addition to the visual discomfort, it can also affect respiratory function, so it should not be taken lightly.

In revision surgery, it is crucial to carefully reconstruct the collapsed support structure, taking into account the characteristics of the bone, cartilage, and skin.

Rhinoplasty is not a procedure to make the nose thinner,Design that maintains form and functionWe must not forget that.
