What is DAXXIFY®?
Daxify is an injectable medication whose main ingredient is botulinum toxin type A.
Its generic name is “daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm,” and it received FDA approval in the United States in 2022 for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults.
Botulinum toxin injections, including Botox, are a treatment that temporarily blocks signals from nerves to muscles, thereby reducing excessive muscle movement. Daxify works on the same basic principle.
On the other hand, the formulation of this product has characteristics that differ from those of conventional botulinum toxin products.
Dakshify is characterized by its proprietary peptide technology
One of the key features of Daxify is its use of a proprietary synthetic peptide called “RTP004.”
Botulinum toxin products differ in their composition—other than the active ingredient—depending on the specific product. In Daxify, this peptide is used to stabilize the formulation instead of human serum albumin or animal-derived ingredients.
People sometimes think, “All botulinum toxin products are the same,” but in reality, the composition varies from product to product.
Does Daxify last a long time?
One of the well-known characteristics of DAXXIFY® is its clinical data regarding duration of action.
In a Phase III clinical trial targeting expression lines between the eyebrows, it was reported that the condition—in which wrinkles were rated as “absent or mild”—persisted for approximately 24 weeks following treatment.
However, this does not mean that “Dakshify will definitely last six months.”
The onset and duration of effects from botulinum toxin treatments vary from person to person. They may also vary depending on the treatment site, dosage, and muscle condition.
Therefore, it is important not to choose a medication based solely on its duration of action, but to consider the characteristics and risks of each medication as well.
